Hi , my name is Art McConahy . My dog Hunter and I live in Siskiyou County, Ca. We stay in Fort Jones when we're not out prospecting or researching an old mine. I've been prospecting for close to 30 years now. For the last 5 years I've been here researching , locating claims , prospecting , mining , selling claims , and helping others to do the same. I now have several claims around the county , most of them with some history . All of them have GOLD.
Experienced prospectors all know the look on a persons face , when they find their first keeper . I know I've seen it a thousand times , which is why WEGOMINING.COM is here . I also know the dissappointment of not having a place to prospect , or use your mining equipment . I have claims that you can do it all on . If you've never shook a pan , I can teach you . If you need a claim to dredge or highbank , I've got it . Or , if you just want to get away and try something new , I can introduce you to the fascinating wolrd of prospecting .
About Our Quality Mineral Properties
I personally research all of my claims . I use the BLM , county courthouses , museums , libraries , and other resources . Believe me , it takes time to find available , claimable , acreage , in quality mineral bearing areas !
Then , I have to go do the field work . That 's the part I really enjoy . Sometimes , I'll camp in an area for weeks at a time , while prospecting several thousands of acres .
While doing this , I may hike several miles a day , with equipment , to prospect an area , only to find that it has been pretty well cleaned out . But , there are still many locations , with plenty of of gold left . When I find these areas , I start locating claims ,....... if possible .
Locating a claim properly is the hardest part . 1st , you must find out if the area you want to prospect is available for mineral entry . Then , you have to find the minerals , if they're there . Then you need to plot out your claim , on the surface , and on paper ,....... legally . Placing corner posts , or monuments , may require some work . Not all locations are easily accessable .
The final steps are going to the county courthouse , researching again , just to be sure that no one has filed on your area recently ,paying the fees, and filing with them . After receiving the finished paperwork from them , you file with the BLM and pay their fees .
While doing all of this , you must deal with the Forest Service , avoid pot growers , deal with locals that don't want to be dealt with , and most important of all ............. KEEP IT TO YOURSELF ! If not , when you get to the courthouse , you'll find that someone has already been there..... two days ago ..LOL
About our Gold Mining Adventures
You can go to Vegas , you'll probably go home broke . You could go to Hawaii and come home with a flowered shirt and pictures . You could go to the Grand Canyon , and come home with pictures and sounenirs . But if you come here for vacation , you'll probably go home with an ounce or two of gold . ..........Maybe more !
But , one thing I'm sure of is , you'll remember this vacation every time you see gold prices going up again . And it will be an adventure . There are no amenities out here . You'll either camp , or drive several miles to the nearest lodging . You will see wild animals , don't forget your camera . You will work your but off , if you want to find gold . Funny thing is , once you found gold , it don't seem like work any more .
